The 12.06 to Leeds – Harrogate, North Yorkshire
Highly commended – 2018 Landscape Photographer of the Year Network Rail ‘Lines in the Landscape’ Award
A couple of days before new year, and around Harrogate the weather had drawn in. It was still, misty and the snow was constant. I decided it best to head out on foot to photograph my local area rather than go further afield and risk getting stuck among snow bound traffic. After a few hours exploring I was on my way home and reached a little bridge over a tranquil section of the Harrogate to Leeds line as it makes its way through Crimple Valley. A kid at heart, I paused for a moment hoping that I might see a train come past. Through the quiet, I heard the approaching sound of the 12.06 from Knaresborough as it steadfastly made it way towards Leeds through that cold winters day.
